eNRMC UPGRADE

READY FOR CHANGE FROM 1 OCTOBER 2025

Fully Approved & Ready

From 1 October 2025, only conformant eNRMC systems support PBS/RPBS chart-based prescribing in residential aged care.

SimpleMed has passed ADHA conformance testing and is fully approved for ongoing use.

The transitional arrangement ends on 30 September 2025. From this date, aged care facilities using non-conformant systems will need parallel paper and electronic workflows for new medication orders — adding time, complexity, and risk for prescribers, pharmacists, and care teams.

Upgrading to a conformant eNRMC solution eliminates these parallel processes and ensures legal, streamlined prescribing from the chart.

With SimpleMed, your facility can meet conformance requirements confidently and stay fully compliant without disrupting daily operations.

What’s Changing

The eNRMC Transitional Arrangement ends on 30 September 2025.

From 1 October 2025, non-conformant systems can no longer be used for new PBS/RPBS chart-based prescribing in residential aged care.

If your current system is not conformant, you’ll need to manage parallel workflows:

  • continuing to reference existing electronic charts for active orders, and

  • issuing PBS prescriptions or using paper NRMC for any new orders.

This adds administrative load, increases the risk of errors, and slows down medication management across prescribers, pharmacists and care teams.

All providers are expected to operate fully on conformant eNRMC systems by 1 March 2026.

SimpleMed is already conformant and approved, so you can upgrade early and avoid disruption when these deadlines take effect.

The fastest way to avoid workflow disruption is to move early to a fully conformant eNRMC system.

Why Upgrade to a Conformant eNRMC System

The end of the transitional arrangement marks more than just a regulatory deadline — it’s a shift to a safer, faster, and fully digital prescribing model for aged care.

Conformant eNRMC systems let prescribers, pharmacists, and care teams work on a single legally recognised chart, without needing separate PBS paper scripts. This improves clinical safety, operational efficiency, and data integrity across the entire medication cycle.

Upgrading early means your site can:

  • Avoid parallel workflows that slow down prescribing and increase error risk.

  • Comply confidently with PBS/RPBS requirements from day one.

  • Modernise medication management to match community ePrescriptions.

  • Minimise disruption by planning your rollout on your own timeline.

By moving now, you’ll be operating on a fully approved system before March 2026 — not scrambling to catch up.
